In the 1930s in Chicago Illinois USA, Ben Hirsch invents liquid auto polish in the family bathtub leading to the production of the first premium car polish named Plastone in 1944. In 1946, Plastone™ was renamed Turtle Wax® for its hard-shell finish and the Turtle Wax company was formed, introducing the first ever bottled car wax.

Over 75 years later, Turtle Wax remains one of the leading car care brands, topping the market in categories like spray wax, compounds, scratch removers, car interior care, carpet care, bug removers, and headlight restoration. With products available in over 120 countries, Turtle Wax has become a global name, with its roots in Chicago where it continues to drive award-winning innovation.
