STP

STP® was founded in 1954 by three businessmen in St. Joseph, Missouri USA, who launched the brand with a single product: STP® Oil Treatment. This product was designed to help motor oil withstand high temperatures and pressures, and early sales were made directly from the founders' car trunks! By 1963, product availability was expanded to over 200 000 gas stations across the USA.

In 1969, STP® was established and sponsored an Indy Car team, which included Mario Andretti’s winning 1969 Indianapolis 500 run. STP® became further ingrained in the racing culture with its longstanding sponsorship of NASCAR legend Richard Petty. Commemorative races and partnerships, including the one in 2022 when Erik Jones won the Southern 500 in the iconic #43 car, continue STP’s legacy in motorsports.
