Founded by Harry Soref in 1921, Master Lock began as a small workshop in the USA, fuelled by Soref’s vision, passion, and innovative spirit. He revolutionized security with the laminated padlock—a strong, affordable lock inspired by steel layering in bank vaults. Securing a patent in 1924, Soref launched Master Lock with innovative, circus-themed product names and a lion logo.

Over time, Master Lock's product range has expanded to include not only its classic bronze and aluminium padlocks but also safes, wire ropes, high-security chains, products for motorbikes, straps, and a full line for bicycles. Today, the company has grown to be the largest global manufacturer and distributor of security products, continually delivering cutting-edge solutions.
